Here's the challenge - how fast is your DSL connection? Not the speed the provider says, but the actual connection speed.

You might be surprised to know that many times you are sharing DSL connections with so many people that your connection can be slower that what you would ever expect.

There is a simple test to find out located by googling "DSL Speed Test". or try a new site featured in the July issue of Website Magazine Free Speed Test.com Any DSL Speed test doesn't take long and requires that all of your programs are turned off since they have a tendency to report slower speeds than actually exist on your connection.

You may find that your speed is not what your provider promised. Before you change providers you can try some "quick fixes" available from DSL Report. It's a free download.

Call your provider and complain! You are paying for something they are not delivering. They may tell you that the decrease is due to the distance you are located from their switch, or that you have faulty wiring. Both are usually excuses on their part as they know that sharing DSL with too many customers can cause the same thing.
